Updates and Upcoming Releases
It’s been a year since my last post—time really does fly—but the world of the Oathbreakers Saga has been quietly moving forward. I had to sit down and have some very real conversations with myself about writing, time, and all the other things life throws at you: a full-time job, family, maintenance (I do all my own plumbing, mechanics, you name it), and the rest of my goals. The first talk wasn’t great. The second wasn’t either. By the third (and a few more after that), I finally started to see a path forward.
Here’s the exciting part: Tighter than Bonds, a free novella set during Colder than Death, Volume I, will be available right here on the homepage, with an option to sign up for the email list. If you’re already on the list, you’ll get it in the newsletter when it launches. Don’t worry—I only send newsletters when a book is released, so no inbox clutter.
Colder than Death, Volume I is now officially slated for Halloween 2026. Yes, this is probably the third delay. The draft is more than 90% complete, aiming for 100% by the end of January. Why Halloween? Besides the obvious vibes, this being my first self-published book means I want to take my time and reduce mistakes.
Colder than Death, Volume II will follow around New Year’s 2026/27. The good news: Volume II isn’t far behind, even if Volume I took its sweet time. Volume III doesn’t have a timeline yet, but there will be a plan—no Patrick Rothfuss-style waiting here. Each book is under 100k words, so the pace is manageable.
For fans of the independent novellas, The Moon’s Last Gift will continue with monthly chapter halves, keeping the story moving between bigger releases. Two more stories are planned after that, and depending on interest, these novellas might eventually be packaged as full ebooks—either free or $1 to cover editor and artist costs.
Yes, progress is slow, but it’s steady. Funding everything from my day job makes it a careful process: editors, artists, ISBNs, and the rest take time and resources. But looking ahead, 2026 promises stories, surprises, and a little magic for anyone following the saga.
Thanks for sticking around. I’m finally ready to share more of what’s coming—and I can’t wait to hear what you think when these stories reach the world. —Jere
